Gotcha Day!!!

It is 4:33 am over here and we are leaving for Vladimir at 6. I've been up since 3;15....I'm knda excited and can"t sleep! It is crazy cold here, like -16 degrees with a "feels like" temperature -27 degrees. Wow, is Riley ever going to love North Carolina winters!!!

It is now 5:32 pm and we are back at our hotel in Moscow with our daughter. We drove to Vladimir in 3 hours and then picked up Riley's new Russsian passport. We then traveled another hour and a half to the orphanage and picked her up. She was wonderful on the trip back to Moscow. At first she just wanted to be held while she sucked a thumb. Before we knew it she was playing with us and cooing. And Brannon, Dad has won our bet and made her smile first. Now, believe it or not, she is babbling words and laughing!!! We are having a ball with her! It is truly amazing what a little attention will do. She is a completely different little girl than the one we saw in the orphanage.

  1. Boy you sure do know how to make a girl cry!!! I am sitting here at work watching your video and looking at Riley's pictures with her mom and dad and trying very hard not to mess up my make up!!!! Whew!! I am so glad she is smiling and babbling!! Way to go Mike!! I know you can't wait to get her home to meet her big brothers. I have a feeling there's going to be lots of smiles to come from Miss Riley once she gets around those crazy fellas! Praise the Lord!! Congratulations!!!

  4. Dear Mike and Susan,

When I got to work this morning there was a note on my classroom door from Brannon to check the blog. What a great Christmas gift!! You will never forget Christmas 2009.

I can’t imagine how excited Brannon & Logan must be. I’m sure they’re counting down the minutes for your return with their little sister! Will be praying for safe travels HOME!! Love & Prayers!
